European Union
Most garments from India currently pay up to 12% EU duty. India and the EU concluded a free trade agreement on 27 January 2026, and India's Ministry of Textiles says duties on Indian textiles and apparel will be removed from the day it enters into force. As of September 2026 the European Commission has proposed the agreement for signature; it still needs approval by the Council and the European Parliament, and ratification by India.
United States
Clothing from India pays the standard US duty for its product code plus a 10% additional tariff. The additional tariff has changed several times since 2025, so check the current rate before you commit to a price.
Australia
Under the India–Australia ECTA, in force since 29 December 2022, qualifying clothing made in India enters Australia at 0% instead of 5%. The goods must meet the agreement's rules of origin, and the shipment needs an ECTA certificate of origin issued in India.
New Zealand
The India–New Zealand free trade agreement was signed on 27 April 2026 and takes effect on 20 October 2026. From that date, every tariff line on goods from India becomes duty-free, including clothing, which currently pays up to 10%.
